Light Commercial HVAC In-Person Certificate Program

While the online certificate program is a convenient and affordable way to pursue training in commercial system design, we know that some people prefer the personal interaction of in-person education.

A few times a year, ACCA hosts a three-day class covering Light Commercial Design for Quality Installation in locations around the country.

Participants in the live class will also receive a five-year ACCA Certificate and ACCA maintains a record of your successful completion. (Unlike the Online Certificate Program, however, in-person participants may not access their transcript or certificate online.)

Who It's For

Contractors, technicians, design and utility personnel, wholesalers, energy commission officials, licensing and code officials, and others interested in learning the importance, including the economic and environmental benefits, of accurate commercial load calculation procedures for system design.

Get CEUs! Successful completion of the in-person certificate program will provide you with 25 RSES CEUs for CM (certificate member) or a CMS (certificate members specialist) designations. To receive the RSES CEUs, you must present the certificate of completion to the organization.

No, the in-person class registration always includes the required materials.
Days 1 and 2 start at 9am and end at 5pm. Day 3 starts at 9am and usually ends by 4pm, though it may run later depending on class participation.
Day 1: ACCA Manual N 5th Edition – Commercial Load Calculations
Receive complete instructions for estimating heat loss and heat gain in commercial structures. N5 produces equipment sizing loads for all commercial structures less than three stories above grade, regardless of footprint. It provides quick supplemental details and advanced topics as well as supporting reference tables and appendices.

Day 2: Manual Q– Commercial Low Pressure, Low Velocity Duct System Design
Design a commercial duct system using one of four different design methodologies. You can apply this procedure to constant volume systems, as well as zoned, variable air volume systems, over the full range of duct construction materials.

Day 3: ACCA/ANSI Quality Installation, and Software
Gain a thorough grounding in the requirements of ACCA/ANSI Standard 5 QI 2010, the blue print for installing a commercial HVAC system. Also receive instruction and demo usage on software designed to make implementation of the ACCA Manuals simpler in the field.
We restrict class size to ensure a high level of interaction. Typically there are fewer than 20 learners in a class.
