Light Commercial HVAC In-Person Certificate Program

Light Commercial HVAC
In-Person Certificate Program

While the online certificate program is a convenient and affordable way to pursue training in commercial system design, we know that some people prefer the personal interaction of in-person education.

A few times a year, ACCA hosts a four-day class covering Residential & Light Commercial Design for Quality Installation in locations around the country.

Participants in the live class will also receive a five-year ACCA Certificate and ACCA maintains a record of your successful completion. (Unlike the Online Certificate Program, however, in-person participants may not access their transcript or certificate online.)

Days 1 and 2 start at 8am and end at 5pm. Day 3 starts at 8am and usually ends by 4pm. Day 4 starts at 8 am and ususally ends by 3pm, though it may run later depending on class participation.

Day 1: ACCA Manual J 8th Edition – Residential Load Calculations
Receive complete instructions for estimating heat loss and heat gain for residential structures. MJ8 produces equipment sizing loads for single-family-detached homes, small multi-unit structures, condominiums, town houses and manufactured homes. It provides quick supplemental details and advanced topics as well as supporting reference tables and appendices.

Day 2: Manual D 3rd Edition – Residential Duct Systems
Design a residential duct system in less time with the streamlined duct sizing procedure in this revised edition of Manual D. You can apply this procedure to constant volume systems and zoned, variable air volume systems, over the full range of duct construction materials. Manual D also includes the most comprehensive equivalent length data ever published.

Day 3: ACCA/ANSI Quality Installation, And Software
Gain a thorough grounding in the requirements of ACCA/ANSI Standard 5 QI, the blue print for installing an HVAC system that will qualify for Energy Star v 3.0. Also receive instruction and demo usage of software designed to make implementation of ACCA processes simpler in the field.

Day 4: Manual N Commercial Load Calculations & Manual Q Low Pressure, Low Velocity Commercial Duct System Design
Learn to use the New Fifth Edition of Manual N® which details the load calculation procedure for all low-rise commercial buildings. You will learn how to accurately size the proper commercial equipment for your particular application and geographic region of the country. You will also learn four different design methodologies for ducted distribution systems to extract the proper amount of air out of the equipment and deliver it to the areas to be heated and/or cooled in a commercial application.

We restrict class size to ensure a high level of interaction. Typically there are fewer than 20 learners in a class.
