Who’s setting the standard in HVACR? ACCA’s 2027 awards nominations are open

ALEXANDRIA, VA. (August 11, 2026) — The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) has opened nominations for its 2027 Awards of Excellence, the association’s annual recognition of the contractors, service managers, and volunteers whose work sets the standard for professionalism in the HVACR industry.

Nominations close November 30. Winners will be notified privately in late January or early February and announced at ACCA 2027 in National Harbor, Washington, D.C., held March 10–12 in conjunction with ACCA’s 2027 Advocacy Day.

“Every one of these awards starts with somebody deciding to fill out a form,” said ACCA Interim President and CEO Martin Hoover. “The contractors who deserve this recognition are usually too busy running their companies to ask for it. If that describes you, nominate yourself. If it describes someone on your team, take ten minutes and do it for them.”

Eight honors are open for nomination:

  • Residential Contractor of the Year and Commercial Contractor of the Year — two of ACCA’s highest honors, each recognizing a single standout company.
  • Service Manager of the Year — for a service manager at a member company who goes beyond day-to-day responsibilities to drive company success, inspire their team, and deliver results for customers.
  • ACCA Community Leadership Award — honoring individuals who are service-oriented, knowledgeable, and kind.
  • Spirit of Independence — the highest individual honor in the indoor environment profession, presented only on rare occasions a01nd open to posthumous recognition.
  • Distinguished Service Award — for a volunteer whose contributions through ACCA committees, task forces, and special projects have gone above and beyond.
  • Federated Insurance’s ACCA Super S.T.A.R. Award — for a contractor who prioritizes Safety, Teamwork, Accountability, and Responsibility.
  • Marketing Masters Award — recognizing campaigns developed and executed within the past calendar year, across traditional media, new and digital media, and branding. Marketing firms are encouraged to apply on behalf of their clients.

There is no application fee and no limit on how many nominations a member may submit. Nominees must be ACCA members in good standing, or employed by a member company, and available to attend the ACCA Awards Ceremony at ACCA 2027 in National Harbor, Washington, D.C.
