An Update on the EPA Phase Down of HFC Refrigerants and the Market for A2L Products

As the HVACR industry evolves, HFC refrigerants are being phased down in favor of new, lower-GWP refrigerants. On January 1, 2025 a ban on the manufacture of R-410A will go into effect, with an installation ban starting January 1, 2026. Guidelines for Sizing and Selecting Heat Pumps in Any Climate

The use of air-source heat pumps (ASHPs) is growing rapidly, it is even being widely adopted in cold climates. System sizing and selection practices are even more critical in climates with longer colder winters and warm summers. Comfort and equipment life can be significantly impacted by poor sizing and system selection.

With input from ACCA, the Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) has developed helpful guidelines for contractors and their customers. These short infographics explain the factors involved in making sure that the heat pump meets the needs of the homeowner and their home.
