Skip SnyderWho was Skip Snyder?

Skip was an iconic leader in the HVACR industry. In his 30s and 40s, he became actively involved in the industry, through NATE and ACCA, first on the local level, then regional, and finally serving as national chairman for both organizations. Through a journey of more than 20 years, he made many friends and was an inspiration through his dedication and hard work. During his year as chairman of ACCA, his theme was expanding MIX® Groups nationally as a method for business owners to help each other thrive.

Skip graduated from Temple University in 1970 with a bachelor’s degree in business, was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry, and following his active duty commitment, spent 13 years in the Army Reserve. Skip was president of Snyder Company, Inc., a parent company overseeing commercial and industrial boiler installations and product distribution and wholesale. He trained in Tang Soo Do karate with his son and daughter for more than 18 years, eventually achieving the rank of fourth-degree black belt master level. He had a great love if Disney and lived in Celebration, FL, before retiring to Virginia with his wife, Laurel.

Skip passed away in November 2013 after a long battle with cancer. The industry mourned his passing, because his influence is still seen today, not only at ACCA, but throughout the industry and his community, which is why ACCA's Community Leadership Award was established.
