Residential Contractor of the Year

The Residential Contractor of the Year award is one of ACCA’s highest honors, celebrating a single standout company whose performance sets the standard for excellence in the HVACR industry. This annual recognition showcases a contractor’s exceptional commitment to quality, professionalism, and innovation—demonstrating to customers, peers, and the community that they not only meet but exceed national standards. Winning this award is both a mark of distinction and a powerful marketing opportunity, highlighting a company’s leadership, superior results, and dedication to advancing the industry.

Finalists will be notified in January. Winners will be announced at ACCA 2026 in Las Vegas, NV.

Awarding Criteria

  • Must be an ACCA member in good standing for at least three years.
  • Demonstrates exceptional commitment to delivering high-quality residential HVACR services.
  • Maintains a proven track record of professionalism, integrity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Shows measurable business achievements, such as growth, efficiency improvements, or market impact.
  • Implements innovative practices in service delivery, technology, training, or operations.
  • Adheres to and exceeds national industry standards, codes, and best practices.
  • Must be available to attend the ACCA Awards Ceremony to accept the award in person.

Judging

  • The judging panel for this award is comprised of ACCA’s past chairs.
  • The judges will judge based on the submitted nomination statement.

Sponsored by The Air Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration News, this annual recognition celebrates a service manager from an ACCA member company who goes above and beyond their day-to-day responsibilities—driving company success, inspiring their team, and delivering outstanding results for customers. This award shines a spotlight on the dedication, leadership, and innovation that make the recipient truly the best of the best.

The ACCA Community Leadership Award

The ACCA Community Leadership Award honors individuals who embody the spirit and values of the late Skip Snyder, ACCA Board Chair from 2003–2004. Established in his memory, this award recognizes leaders who exemplify the SKIP principles—Service-oriented, Knowledgeable and Kind, Integrity, and Partnership. It celebrates those whose success is defined not only by professional and financial achievements, but also by the positive, lasting impact they make in their communities. This tribute reflects Skip’s remarkable character and his philosophy of life: helping, caring, and sharing with others to make the world a better place.

  • Must be employed by an ACCA member in good standing.
  • Demonstrates exceptional community involvement that aligns with the SKIP principles:

Spirit of Independence

The Spirit of Independence Award is the highest individual honor in the indoor environment profession, reserved for those whose influence has left a lasting legacy on the contracting industry. Presented only on rare occasions, it recognizes individuals whose service, innovation, and unwavering personal commitment have profoundly shaped the success of the professional contracting community. Recipients of this award are true industry legends—leaders whose vision and dedication have inspired peers, elevated standards, and strengthened the future of our field.

Awarding Criteria

  • Reserved for individuals who have made an extraordinary, long-term impact on the professional contracting industry.
  • Demonstrates exceptional leadership, vision, and dedication that have advanced the HVACR profession.
  • Contributions have created a lasting, positive legacy within the HVACR community.
  • May be awarded posthumously in recognition of a lifetime of achievement.
  • Honoree must be available to attend the ACCA Awards Ceremony to accept the award in person, unless awarded posthumously.

Distinguished Service Award

The Distinguished Service Award honors an outstanding volunteer whose exceptional contributions have gone above and beyond in advancing ACCA’s mission and the HVACR industry. While ACCA is strengthened each year by the dedication of dozens of volunteers who give their time, expertise, and leadership to areas ranging from standards development to membership programs, this award recognizes an individual whose impact stands out as truly extraordinary. Recipients of the Distinguished Service Award exemplify commitment, leadership, and a spirit of service that leaves a lasting mark on our organization and the industry as a whole.

Awarding Criteria

  • Must be an employee of an ACCA member company in good standing.
  • Has demonstrated exceptional volunteer service to ACCA, significantly advancing the association’s mission and initiatives.

Federated Insurance's ACCA Super S.T.A.R. Award

Launched in 2017 the Federated Insurance’s ACCA Super S.T.A.R. Award, recognizes an ACCA contractor member who prioritizes the four components of the award: Safety, Teamwork, Accountability, and Responsibility.

  • Must be an employee of an ACCA member company in good standing.
  • Must be a customer of Federated Insurance.

Marketing Masters Award

Whether your print advertisements made a splash, your radio or television commercials were viewed around the world (or your community!), or your digital/social media campaign reached new heights – we want to hear how your marketing efforts are making an impact on your business! ACCA’s Marketing Masters Award is designed to showcase the unique and effective marketing campaigns contractor businesses implemented this year to attract and retain their customers.

Finalists will be notified in January. Winners will be announced at ACCA 2026 in Las Vegas, NV.

Awarding Criteria

  • Nominated campaign must be for an ACCA member company in good standing.
  • Note: Marketing firms are welcomed and encouraged to apply for their clients.
  • Marketing campaign must have been developed and executed within the past calendar year.
  • Demonstrates creativity and originality in concept, design, and execution.
  • Clearly aligns with the company’s brand, values, and target audience.
  • Shows measurable results, such as increased customer engagement, lead generation, sales growth, or brand awareness.
  • Utilizes effective marketing channels, which may include print, radio, television, digital, or social media.
  • Provides supporting materials (e.g., images, videos, analytics, testimonials) to illustrate the campaign’s success and impact.
  • Representative from nominated company must be available to attend the ACCA Awards Ceremony to accept the award in person.
