Apprenticeship Programs

ACCA chapters and contractors around the country are involved in workforce development through apprenticeship programs for our industry. In addition, ACCA and several partner organizations have developed a new series of textbooks that can be used by schools, chapters and contractors for apprentices, entry-level technicians, and students.

The following ACCA chapters have developed apprenticeship programs for their local areas in cooperation with local schools and contractors. Contact the appropriate chapter for more information.

Apprenticeship and 4-Year Program Manuals
ACCA, PHCC and RSES have collaborated with Delmar and Cengage Learning to develop a new four-year textbook series in HVACR.

The books begin with simple concepts that provide an overview of the world of HVACR and its main systems and components. Coverage then progresses to increasingly complex procedures, such as scheduled maintenance, installation, service and repair, customer service, and sales.

This building-block approach, combined with numerous practical examples, makes the book the ideal resource for learning and applying key HVACR concepts. Backed by these world-class organizations and the high standards and cutting-edge resources that they are known for, Delmar is producing high-quality, industry-driven products that meet the needs of HVACR professionals.

Outstanding features of this series:

  • written using the basic language and terminology encountered in the HVACR field, providing readers with information that is relevant and applicable to onsite work
  • detailed graphics include pictures, graphs, and tables, which serve to clarify and illustrate important systems and processes
  • field examples and real-world scenarios are used throughout, encouraging readers to think
critically and preparing them for work in the field
  • instructor’s resources include a computerized test bank of exam questions for each chapter, PowerPoint® slides that highlight key concepts from the corresponding text, and an image library

"HVACR 101" is available now at a list price of $89.95 ($80.96 for ACCA members). The next three textbooks will be released in 2009. "HVACR 101" can be ordered directly from Delmar/Cengage Learning by calling Kathy Buhrow at 800-998-7498 x4843. (Note, these particular manuals may not be ordered directly from ACCA.)
