ACCA is an ANSI-accredited standards developer that develops standards and supports the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). ANSI approval of ACCA manuals, procedures and processes verifies that the principles of openness and due process have been followed in developing these materials, and that a consensus of those directly affected by the standards has been achieved.

ACCA’s standards activity is overseen by our Standards Task Team, which forms subcommittees as needed to oversee specific standards development. The process is open and you are encouraged to get involved; for more information, contact standards-sec@acca.org.

CURRENT ACTIVITIES

ACCA & RESNET ANNOUNCE ANSI PUBLIC REVIEW PERIOD FOR PROPOSED REVISIONS TO ANSI/RESNET/ACCA/ICC 310 – 2020, STANDARD FOR GRADING THE INSTALLATION OF HVAC SYSTEMS 

The Residential Energy Services Network, Inc. (RESNET) and the Air Conditioning Contractors of America Educational Institute (ACCA-EI) Standards Task Team (STT) announce an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) public review period for proposed revisions to ANSI/RESNET/ACCA/ICC 310 – 2020, Standard for Grading the Installation of HVAC Systems.

The 45-day ANSI public review period commenced on August 16, 2024, with a comment deadline of September 30, 2024. The project updates the 310 standard for its second edition.

The standard is the product of a collaborative effort between RESNET, ACCA, and the International Code Council (ICC) that establishes the procedures, tolerances, and record keeping practices for evaluating and grading elements of an HVAC system’s design and installation.  ACCA and RESNET have an MOU to develop and maintain the above standard with RESNET being the lead organization.

Member Input Needed – ACCA Reviewing Several of its ANSI Recognized Standards for Potential Updates 

ACCA has begun the process to review several of its current standards that are recognized by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).  According to ANSI’s Essential Requirements, once a standard is approved it must be reviewed every 5 years to determine whether it requires (a) additional changes or updates, (b) reaffirmation if no changes are needed, or (c) withdrawal. 

A description of each standard under review is shown below.
