October 27, 2016

ACCA, the Indoor Environment & Energy Efficiency Association, has named Carol Grooms of Carolina Comfort Air, Inc. in Clayton, NC, Service Manager of the Year.

"We received an overwhelming amount of excellent nominations for the first year of this award," said Paul T. Stalknecht, ACCA president and CEO. "Carol, however stood out in the nomination process due to her dedication to her company through implementing programs that promote growth through training and team empowerment and increase not only department, but company morale. She is extremely deserving of being the first ever ACCA Service Manager of the Year."

Some of the programs that Grooms has put into place at her company include:

  • New training program that requires all technicians to become NATE certified and all technicians and dispatch team members to attend regularly scheduled training.
  • Rotating overtime shift program, which spreads overtime across all techs allowing for each employee to earn extra money, while respecting the employee's personal needs.
  • A food drive program that encourages not only employees, but customers to donate canned goods for local needy families. The customers who donate 6 canned goods to the drive receive a discount.

"I am extremly honored and humbled to receive the very first Service Manager of the Year award from ACCA," said Grooms. "In my personal and professional life, I live by the quote, 'Doing the right thing is always the right thing to do,' which is why I have worked so hard to put these programs in place. My team is the best and they deserve my best in return."

The Service Manager of the Year award was presented during Service Leadership, which took place October 27 - 28, 2016, in Cincinnati, OH.
