We are just starting to use Manual J & D, and looking for software. What do you use and recommend? We do mostly residential and some light commercial. Thanks for any suggestions!

    Hi Pamela,
I use Wrightsoft for past 20 plus years and it does a great job.
The set up can take time ,though once set up it does not take long to do Manual J & Manual D.
They have great video's to learn from and live classes as well, which I would highly suggest taking.
If you have any questions, I would be happy to discuss.

We use Wrightsoft with manual J,S and D loaded in the program.  This has worked very well for us.  I would go to their Website and
look at the products they offer. This time of the year they usually have  some discounts available.  They also have regional training  programs on how to use their products.  Another vendor that has been approved for use in the utility programs that we participate in
    is Elite.
These programs are very powerful and have many features  for sales and will even give you a material list in the duct design portion.
    Good Luck.

First,Manual J is ONLY for residential work. You will come up with incorrect answers doing commercial loads on Manual J.  If you want to do loads for commercial, even "light" commercial, you need to use Manual N. It (N) is easy to use with just a little training after mastering Manual J.  I used Wrightsoft for many years and found the support and leading technology advancements to be first class. I highly recommend Wrightsoft products.

Personally you can't go wrong with Wrightsoft.  I have been using it for over 20 years now.  You can email Gene who can give you there training schedule and pricing   or call at 1 (800) 225-8697 ext 119.  They have online as well as training you can go to.
My company is a service and replacement company and I will use the software for troubleshooting sizing/ducting issues along with remodel projects.  Putting pencil to paper, you can't go wrong with that.  I have attached a graph drawing along with what Wrightsoft come up with for a customer house who I believe had an A/C installed that was over sized and there are now having humidity issues.  I also drew out the current ducting system to double check the sizing.   In this case the system is oversized by a half of ton and some of the ducts are under sized.
Keep in mind this is a software system.  Good data in good data out.  Bad data in bad data out.  The software has not failed me on the 20+ years of using it.

Seems like a unanimous decision on Wrightsoft.  I currently use the spreadsheets developed by ACCA.  Is the cost for Wrightsoft a one time fee or an annual fee and if you don't mind sharing the cost information, I would appreciate it.

Thanks, everyone for generously sharing your suggestions and experience. I’m calling Wrightsoft today to talk about packages. Sounds like the Universal Suite is probably the way to go! Thanks again.

We have had success with Wrightsoft's Right-Suite Universal which includes residential and commercial applications. You can choose the basic application set or add the modules suited to your needs. On their website there are on-demand video tutorials that can be used for self-training. Also, they have a free temporary download to try it out before purchasing. The free download doesn't have everything in it but it would still give you a sampling of how it functions.  We have, also, appreciated their service support when needed.  Good luck in moving ahead.

I prefer We have used it for over 26 years. Tech support is great. I beleive it is more accurate. We also use the manual d module. You can enter it tabular or drawing board.
