ACCA Continues Workforce Investments – Sponsors SkillsUSA HVAC Competition

ACCA recently attend the SkillsUSA national event in Louisville, KY, as part of our increased efforts to get more young people involved in the trades.

rsz_20180628_084325.jpgSkillsUSA is a national association serving high school and college students who are preparing for rewarding careers in the trades. Every year, they together future cosmetologists, health workers, plumbers, HVAC techs, and many other occupations, for a competition between the students in each field. Last year, ACCA increased our financial support for the competition.

As part of our increased support and focus on working with organizations, like SkillsUSA, ACCA arranged for industry icon Warren Lupson to attend this phenomenal event. For those who don’t know Warren, he is a former contractor, HVACR educator, member of AHRI staff, and an indefatigable volunteer with ACCA. In 2016, Warren received ACCA’s Spirit of Independence Award, which is occasionally bestowed on an individual who “has had a profound impact on the success of the professional contracting industry.”

rsz_20180628_112726.jpgACCA is proud to sponsor the SkillsUSA HVAC competition and support Warren’s role as the event judge. This year, the competition was very close and we are proud of all the students who took part! Like last year, the 2018 winners will receive scholarships from the Rees Scholarship Foundation, which is a joint partnership between AHRI and ACCA – the associations representing manufactures and contractors.

Included with this blog are some pictures of the event and a nice graphic announcing the competition winners. Be on the lookout for these students, because they’ll be looking for a career with a quality contractor! Hopefully an ACCA member will hire them.

Lastly, thanks again to Warren Lupson for his dedication to ACCA and the HVACR industry!
