Building Codes Changes

The ACCA Codes Committee works closely with codes organizations to represent our members in the regular cycle of codes changes and updates. But, individual contractors should get involved, too.

On this page we'll list resources related to code changes as they become available. For more information about the codes process and how to get involved, contact Wes Davis at wes.davis@acca.org.

Are you plagued by an irrational code requirement?  Have you got an idea how to improve the code?
The new code cycle for the International Code Council (ICC) has begun and the ACCA Codes Committee is seeking your proposed code changes.  Simply complete the Proposed Code Change Form and send it to ACCA by email, fax, or US Post.  The Codes Committee will review the proposed changes and ensure Air Conditioning Contractors across America are heard at the national level.
Proposed changes must be submitted to ACCA by 9 February 2009.  You can also submit directly to the applicable code body by 24 April 2009, visit http://www.iccsafe.org/cs/codes/2009-10cycle/index.html for more information and the necessary forms.  The applicable codes include:  International Mechanical Code, International Energy Conservation Code, International Residential Code, and many others.
If you have any questions call Wes Davis, (703) 824-8847.
